DHL SUPPLY CHAIN CONTRIBUTES TO BAYER CROP SCIENCE’S AWARD-WINNING INTEGRATED SUPPLY CHAIN SOLUTION

Press Release: Westerville, Ohio 06/05/2017

DHL Supply Chain, the Americas’ leader in contract logistics and part of Deutsche Post DHL Group, announced today that its client, Bayer’s Crop Science Division and its innovative Supply Chain Integrated Planning (SCIP) solution was awarded the “Supply Chain Breakthrough of the Year” award at the 2017 SCM World Power of the Profession Awards. The 2017 award ceremony, held in Miami, Florida, recognized the industry’s best and most innovative supply chain initiatives.

Starting in 2015, during a depressed agricultural economy that was threatening revenue, Bayer’s Crop Science Division developed a collaborative and digitally integrated approach to supply chain management referred to as SCIP. DHL Supply Chain, as an integrated solution provider, offered managed transportation services, labor solutions and supply chain planning expertise to help Bayer provide the highest levels of customer service, while optimizing costs. SCIP is an aligned part of Bayer’s commercial strategy that aims to deliver the highest level of service to its customers, while improving customer profitability and capital efficiency.

“Our history and trusting relationship with Bayer enabled us to develop a collaborative, integrated and customized supply chain solution that quickly delivered measurable results,” said Ed Smith, Vice President Business Development, DHL Supply Chain North America. “This award is an exciting way to celebrate reaching a decade-long partnership between Bayer and DHL Supply Chain.”

In its first year, the program increased efficiency and reduced costs, which ultimately benefited Bayer’s customers. Additionally, thanks to Bayer’s collaborative forecasting, planning and inventory management, the program reduced storage and inventory.
