New 578,000-square-foot facility enhances Campbell’s Midwest distribution

DHL Supply Chain, the Americas’ leader in contract logistics and part of Deutsche Post DHL Group, in partnership with Campbell Soup Company, cut the ribbon on a brand new distribution center in Fort Worth, Texas. The facility covers nearly 10 football fields worth of space – roughly 578,000 feet – and will set Campbell’s distribution operations apart from its competitors, meeting increased customer demand and allowing for greater responsiveness.

The Fort Worth distribution center now serves as the hub for the company’s distribution in the south, housing nearly 43,000 pallets of product for one of the nation’s largest food product conglomerates. Fort Worth's proximity to major rail and truck transportation hubs will provide a boost in customer responsiveness for Campbell’s.

“We’re thrilled to bring 120 jobs to the Fort Worth area, and to expand our growing partnership with Campbell Soup Company with a new distribution center,” said Franklin Littleton, President of DHL Supply Chain’s Consumer Sector. “We’ve been fortunate to work with Campbell’s since 2013, and see this as the next step on our collaborative journey to improve the company’s supply chain bandwidth and deliver an even better customer experience for a household name in food."

In addition to storing and distributing Campbell soups, sauces, beverages, snacks and meals, the facility provides Campbell Soup Company with the capability to assemble customer-requested deliverables such as mixed packs, bundle packs, cartons and displays. Additionally, the facility will begin distributing Pepperidge Farm cookies and snacks in early 2018.

“To compete and thrive in this environment, we need to enhance our distribution capabilities,” said Bob Furbee, Senior Vice President, Global Supply Chain for Campbell Soup Company.

“The most effective and efficient way to meet dynamic customer and consumer needs today and in the future is to leverage the expertise of a partner like DHL.”

Additionally, Campbell announced that they plan to test e-Commerce capabilities at their Rancho Cucamonga, California facility – a facility that was the company’s first partnership with DHL Supply Chain – before expanding to the rest of their distribution center network.
