  • Inaugural "Operation: Patriot Popcorn" sent 45,000 popcorn packets to servicemen and women

DHL, the world's leading international express delivery company, partnered with the Baltimore Area Council of Boy Scouts of America to kick off the inaugural "Operation: Patriot Popcorn" shipment for U.S. troops overseas. On Wednesday, June 28, DHL Express shipped 45,000 packets of microwavable popcorn for servicemen and women to enjoy while celebrating the Independence Day holiday in Bagram, Afghanistan.

"What better way to honor the brave men and women who serve overseas than by gifting them with a small taste of home in celebration of the July 4 holiday," said Greg Hewitt, CEO, DHL Express U.S. "We are honored to donate our international express delivery network for this special delivery with committed, local organizations like the Baltimore Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America."

Over 900 Baltimore Area Council Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Scout leaders, parents, and DHL representatives gathered at Camp Linstead in West Friendship, Maryland to load cases of popcorn into DHL trucks for troops overseas. The Boy Scouts also wrote heartfelt letters that were sent with the popcorn to show their appreciation and respect for the troops.
