Hurricane Irma Expected to Reach South Florida This Weekend
In order to allow our employees to complete their hurricane preparations, the Miami station will be working with a skeleton crew today Thursday, September 7, 2017, and will close at 5:00 p.m. The station will be closed throughout Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday morning (September 8-11, 2017). Depending on the category/level of Hurricane Irma when it reaches landfall in Miami, this will have impact on the contingency activation, which will be assessed on a continuous basis.
The Miami station is concentrating its efforts on pushing out all cargo that is on our docks for the earliest possible connecting flights. Most air carriers to Latin America will not be open on Friday and they will not be operating outbound flights for the weekend. Ocean Carriers/NVOCCs (Non-Vessel Owning Common Carriers) have already closed and are not receiving any cargo for export. Any freight that will not be able to fly out in time will be securely stored at our facility and will be moved soonest possible once operations resume.
As we continue to prepare for Hurricane Irma, we will have more updates in the coming days. Should you have any questions, please contact your local sales representative for more information. Thank you for your continued support and understanding.
