FILE BASED INTEGRATION AND ELECTRONIC DATA INTERCHANGE (EDI)

File Based Data Exchange For High Shipping Volumes and Performance

Integrating our services via EDI requires a file based data exchange being set up using sFTP. Basically, you provide us all your shipment information at the end of your business day in one big file, that you upload to a defined, secured FTP Server, either ours or your own. DHL eCommerce in return processes the provided information, prepares the shipping and pick up while you create the labels according to predefined and certified standards.

Basically, within the FTP site structure there are 3 file types. Your basic manifesting files that includes all the shipments you want us to take over, an international rate file showing all the individualized rate zones and prices for your shipments as well as the sort code files that are providing the information for you to create the specific labels. The file formats depend on your region and file version you integrate with and can be .txt, .dat, .esm, .rf1 etc. More detailed information on the processes, data structures and certification requirements for the labels can be found in the latest documentation. Please contact our integration experts or your local sales contact to learn about the wide range of customization options offered by our EDI integrations.
