DHL JOINS CONMEBOL LIBERTADORES BRIDGESTONE 2017 AS OFFICIAL LOGISTICS SPONSOR

DHL, the world’s leading international express services provider, has signed an agreement with the South American Soccer Confederation (CONMEBOL) as the new official logistics sponsor of CONMEBOL LIBERTADORES BRIDGESTONE 2017. The agreement was made by IMG, exclusive CONMEBOL agency to commercialize the tournament’s sponsorship rights.

Pablo Ciano, CEO of DHL Express Central and South America, expressed his enthusiasm for the strategic alliance, as this Cup shares DHL values, such as internationalization, speed, precision, passion and perseverance to do things right the first time around. “We are very proud to join the 58th edition of South America’s most important club tournament, which includes teams from ten South American countries, including Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela.” 

As a result of this partnership, DHL will be present during each match, starting in May. The company will take advantage of the partnership to design attractive strategies, as well as advertisement and promotion activations for its corporate and private clients in over 1,500 service centers across Central and South America. With a world-wide audience, the sponsorship will provide the DHL brand with great exposure during the tournament. In 2016, the tournament had over 1,200 spectators from 54 countries. 

Marcos Senna, Commercial Director of CONMEBOL, added: “We are proud that a leading brand such as DHL supports South American soccer by joining our CONMEBOL LIBERTADORES BRIDGESTONE 2017. This partnership goes beyond the tournament: DHL will be the exclusive global courier of CONMEBOL.”

For many years, sponsorship of sports teams and events has played a key role for communications of the Deutsche Post DHL brand, including soccer with other world-class teams such as FC Bayern Munich, as well as the Rugby World Cup, Formula 1 and Formula E, among others.
