Background

  • Deutsche Post AG submitted an application for the .DHL gTLD in the context of ICANN’s New gTLD Program in April of 2012. Deutsche Post AG was the only applicant for the .DHL gTLD.

    After careful evaluation of Deutsche Post AG’s application by ICANN, the latter awarded the Registry Agreement for the operation of the .DHL gTLD to Deutsche Post AG. A copy of this Registry Agreement is available here and on the website of ICANN.

Registration of Domain Names

  • According to the terms of the Registry Agreement Deutsche Post AG has executed with ICANN, the registration of domain names in the .DHL gTLD is restricted to Registry Operator (Deutsche Post AG), its Affiliates or Trademark Licensees.

    Reference is made to Specification 13 to the Registry Agreement, which states that only Deutsche Post AG, its Affiliates and Licensees are eligible to be registrants of domain names in the TLD and entitled to control the DNS records associated with domain names at any level in the .DHL gTLD.
